Join us Wednesday evening for a blockbuster meeting with two very special guests. Epidemiologist Rebecca Fielding-Miller recently agreed to speak with the club, joining Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-San Diego).
Dr. Fielding-Miller is an epidemiologist working on COVID research at UCSD. She will with us about the state of the pandemic, how it’s hitting San Diego, what we are doing and should be doing, and the future outlook.
Prior to the pandemic, Dr. Fielding-Miller did interesting and important work in HIV and gender, in both the US and sub-Saharan Africa. She received her PHD in behavioral sciences and health education from Emory University in Atlanta, and a Masters of Science in Public Health in international health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.
Also joining us as a guest is Congresswoman Jacobs. Ms. Jacobs was sworn in to Congress less than a month ago, but since then she’s been a dynamo. She joined the influential House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, as well as the Foreign Affairs and Armed Services committees, and has been a prominent voice calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump and investigation into the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Ms. Jacobs ran on a platform emphasizing racial justice, support for small business, health care, immigration, housing and homelessness, and more.
We’ll talk with Ms. Jacobs about her experiences on Jan. 6, and plan for the country going forward. (Isn’t it great to have the adults running the country again, by the way?)
The meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 3–that’s this week! Programming starts at 7 pm, and join us for unstructured conversation starting at 6:30 pm. See you then!
