CA. Gov. June Primary

WHEREAS California has a top two primary system where the top two vote getters advance to the November Election no matter how low their vote totals are regardless of what their Party Affiliations are;
WHEREAS the filing period for candidates running the California Governor’s race is between February 9 and March 6, 2026 for the June Primary;
WHEREAS there are over 9 Democrats running for Governor running thereby making it mathematically probable that we will have 2 Republicans making to the November Election; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the La Mesa Foothills Democratic Club calls on every Democrat polling under 10% to drop out of the Governor’s race.

Resolution Passed by the La Mesa Foothills Democratic Club (LMFDC) at its General Membership Meeting February 4, 2026. The LMFDC is a chartered club by the San Diego County Democratic Party. This Resolution is a Club Resolution only, not a County or State Dem Party Resolution.
