Watch the video of our forum for Democratic candidates for the California 79th Assembly District! Speaking at our recent meeting of the La Mesa-Foothills Democratic Club were:
- Aeiramique Glass Blake, an advocate for racial justice, equity, and reimagined public safety, founder and director of Generation Justice, youth and student activists organizing for change in San Diego.
- Labor organizer Leticia Munguia.
- Shane Parmely, a classroom teacher and advocate for students, their families, and our communities.
- Akilah Weber—wife, mother, physician, and La Mesa City Councilmember.
The candidates had a spirited discussion about the future of education, policing, healthcare, business, affordable housing in California, and more.
We also heard from Shirley Weber, who vacated the AD79 seat recently, talking about her new role as California Secretary of State, ensuring voting rights for all Californians at a time when national Republicans are attacking those rights and threatening democracy nationwide.
